How to remove start up apps in Windows


The more software you install on your system, the longer it may seem to take to start up Windows. Many programs add themselves to the list of programs started when you boot your computer, and that list can get long. So by removing these apps from start up list, you can significantly increase your system performance. As there are many other tools are available in market, but one should know how to manage the start up list using default utility provided by Windows operating system.

Steps you have to perform
  • For Windows XP, Seven and Vista operating systems
1. Press Windows+R keys to open run box.
2. Type "MSConfig" and hit enter.

3. Switch to the "Startup" tab. You should get the list of applications that are enabled with system start up. Uncheck the applications according to your convenience. Make sure that you have not disabled any system driver utility such as "Graphic drivers", "Touch pad drivers".

  • For Windows 8 onward operating systems
1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys to open Task Manager.
2. Switch to "Startup" tab. You should get the list of applications that are enabled with system start up. Select any of the application and click on "Disable".
